An Austin developer is planning an office building near East Austin’s Plaza Saltillo.
Cielo Property Group has purchased several residential parcels on the 1600 block of East Sixth Street with plans to build a six-story office building with ground-floor retail and restaurant space.
The project, which the Austin Business Journal reports is under the working name “Four East,” would add more mixed-use new construction to a rapidly transforming area.
The site for Four East is close to The Foundry, another Cielo mixed-use project that will include residential and creative office space, as well as Plaza Saltillo, a massive transit oriented-development being developed by Endeavor Real Estate Group.
Bobby Dillard, c0-principal of Cielo, told the ABJ “We love East Austin. To be right by (Capital Metro) rail is really meaningful.”
The next steps for the company will be gaining approval for a rezoning application that includes regulations required under the Plaza Saltillo Transit Oriented District Plan, then going before the Austin Planning Commission and City Council.
Cielo is also behind the redevelopment of a site owned by St. David’s Episcopal Church at Seventh and Trinity Streets; the new high-rise Third + Shoal on West Third Street; and the redevelopment of the current Yeti store on South Congress Avenue.
