Apartments, condos, and mixed-use buildings are not the only project types being developed in East Austin. Endeavor Real Estate Group obtained a site development permit in December to begin work on a 5-story creative office development, and construction crews are busy working on site prep and excavation on the 0.7-acre site.
Located at 901 E. 6th Street, the project will include community parkland area, ground floor retail space, an underground parking structure, and secure bike storage for tenants.
Although analysts indicate that the extraordinary demand for Class A office space may be leveling out somewhat, Endeavor is betting that Austin’s economy and office market will remain strong enough to absorb the 132,000 rentable square feet of space when the project opens in 2018.
According to documents filed with the city, architecture is being handled by a joint venture between Thoughtbarn and Delineate Studio. DCA Construction is overseeing construction and dwg. is providing landscape architecture.
According to marketing materials, some unique features of the building include the use of steel I-beam and cross-laminated timber (CLT) for that “warehouse or loft environment” vibe, space for an on-site food trailer or kiosk, and an “active lobby” that spills onto East 6th Street.
BuildingATX will continue to bring you updates on this project as construction moves forward.
