If you’ve driven around East Austin lately, there’s no doubt that you’ve noticed lots of new projects popping up. In the past year, we’ve told you about some of the new restaurants and repurposed creative space in East Austin, and the development activity shows no signs of slowing down. Here’s a quick look at some of the projects we’ve noticed lately that are either proposed or under construction:

Saltillo Station (1700 E. 4th Street)

Construction has started on Saltillo Station project:

This vertical mixed-use residential project near the Plaza Saltillo train station will consist of two buildings and about 150,000 square feet of space. The site is being developed by FlournoyBGO Architects handled the architectural design and BIG RED DOG is the civil engineer.

El Chilito (7th & Chalmers)

This second locaton of popular Cherrywood taco spot El Chilito recently opened at the corner of 7th and Chalmers. The site previously housed a Church’s Chicken.

7East Residential

The 7East project from Ardent Residential is rising at 2025 East 7th Street. As we told you last year, the 1.98-acre site will contain a 213-space parking garage surrounded by ground-floor retail and 181 residential units.

The project is set to complete in Summer 2015 according to project signage.

2008 E. 7th Street

Across the street from 7East, a sign at 2008 E. 7th indicates that PSW Real Estate is planning a project . The building shown in the background of the photo below has been vacant for several years.

Austin-based PSW typically develops residential communities, however this project is not currently listed on their website.

2400 Webberville

A new “horizontal mixed use” project at 2400 Webberville is rising quickly. According to their website, there will be 10,500 square feet of commercial space and 6 freestanding alley flats. It will be AEGB 5-star rated. It is being marketed by Access Realty and built by iON Constructors.
