New Condo Project Slated For Bouldin Neighborhood

June 17, 2014 by Kate Harrington

A new condo project may be taking shape soon in the heart of Austin’s beloved 78704 zip code.

The Boys & Girls Club sold its site at 211 West Johanna Street to developer Barton Creek Capital LLC, which plans to build a 38- to 40-unit condo project that will be a mix of townhomes and flats, according to the Austin-American Statesman. The property sold for $2.75 million, which the Boys & Girls Club said will help it pay for two new locations. Units will range from 700 square feet to 2,250 square feet.

A Barton Creek Capital partner told the Statesman that the new development will incorporate the existing church building on the site and maintain heritage trees.

The developer says the project will break ground this fall, and will be completed in 2015. The project seems to have the blessing of the Bouldin Creek Neighborhood Association, whose members said they’re happy to see the developer plans to keep features like trees and an existing building.
