The Austin skyline seems to be steadily gaining tower cranes lately as high-rise projects start construction, but it will lose one over the weekend. The second of three tower cranes is being removed today at the new JW Marriott construction site at 2nd & Congress.
Crews are using one tower crane to dismantle the other, as you can see in the photo above.
The JW Marriott team celebrated their “topping out” in late January, signifying that they have reached the final construction height. This means the third (and final) crane could be coming down soon as well.
The 1.2-million square foot hotel is slated to open on March 1, 2015.
