The Corazon Apartments project is taking shape just a couple of blocks east of I-35 between 5th and 6th streets. It is just one of the many east Austin developments currently planned or under construction in an area that is undergoing a rapid transformation.

Check out these photos of how Corazon is shaping up:

In addition to the 256 residential units, the Cypress Real Estate Advisors project will include 16,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space and pedestrian-friendly streetscaping.

Here’s an updated rendering of the completed project from their website:

The project is being constructed by Denver-based MPC Construction. MPC will also build the Lakeshore Phase II and the Burnet Marketplace projects for Cypress.

The architect for the project is Good Fulton Farrell. The Landscape architect is Austin-based DWG Urban Landscape Architecture.

BIG RED DOG Engineering, known for spearheading some of the city’s most ambitious Transit Oriented Development projects, handled the site development engineering design and permitting.

Do you think the Corazon project will change the vibe of east 6th Street? What do you think about the renderings?
