Rainey Report: Construction Updates – NO VA, G’Raj Mahal & Container Bar
Rainey Street is abuzz with new construction activity. Here’s a quick rundown of a few of the projects currently underway:
NO VA Kitchen & Bar
Under construction since March, NO VA Kitchen & Bar (87 Rainey Street) is well underway. Chef Brad Sorenson’s new spot will serve upscale bar food and cocktails. No word on an official opening date, but the project has been in the works since late 2011.
75 1/2 Rainey
A “historical restoration” of the house at 75 1/2 Rainey has been under construction since April. The new structure will house an as-yet unknown bar. Documents filed with the city reveal what the new structure could look like:
G’Raj Mahal
The new location for G’Raj Mahal (73 Rainey Street) is also being “historically restored”, and is in a similar state to its next-door neighbor:
As you can see, there’s barely anything left of the house that was originally built in 1914. Once completed, here’s how it might look, according to documents filed with the city last summer:
Container Bar
Last but not least, foundations for Container Bar were recently poured. No sign of the containers just yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
